(Lov) // The Lady In Pink

This past Sunday was the day of our Vlass Family tradition of taking Lydia to the Pumpkin Patch! Last year she was a Rag Doll and the year before that, she was a cute little Lady Bug. She has known EXACTLY what she wanted to be this year... all year long. As most parents of little ones know all too well, favorite TV shows change daily. The Backyardigans (my personal favorite) has always remained at the top of her list. One episode in particular called "International Super Spy" is indeed her absolute favorite. The Lady in Pink is a secret agent played by Uniqua who is a sort of a James Bond type villain. She's very Mod, very pink, and has a killer menacing laugh that Lydia perfected in the car on the way there. She had kind of a sad moment when she realized that we had forgotten her white gloves... so I didn't even tell her I forgot to make the ears for her hat (pregnancy brain)!  Alas, I assured her that this wasn't ACTUALLY Halloween and that we would have another chance to get it just perfect. She had a great time...sans pink curly ears and white gloves.

Once back home, Lydia painted pumpkins (one for her and one for the new baby) while I made a pie!

Happy Halloween Everybody!

(Lov) // What a Doll!

Taking Lydia to the Pumpkin Patch each October at the church where my Mother works has become an Vlass family tradition! Last year, she was a cute little Lady Bug. This year, she's got quite a thing for dolls so I thought a Rag Doll would be perfect! She has been "bursting at the seams" to put this costume on since it arrived in the mail a few weeks ago and has pointed to it EVERY morning and squealed "Halloween!" with great delight. So let's just say that today... she was one HAPPY little girl.

For those who have asked about my skirt, you can find it here

Happy Halloween!

(Be) // A Stylin Halloween.

Being a stylist at Halloween HAS GOT to be one of the most enjoyable parts of my job.  Getting to style my clients and friends for parties and events is something I look forward to all year!  I wanted to share with you my two favorites from today! First up was my friend Wes Haynes.  He is a talented musician here in Austin, and he hired me to help him become Kenny Powers for a party and a show he will be playing over the weekend.  That's right folks... I got to give him a mullet!!!  I think it turned out awfully good.

Next up was my husband Brendan who is playing a show tonight with his band Muchos Backflips! at The Hole in the Wall. With the show being so close to Halloween, the members agreed to dress up like some sort of character (TV, movie, cartoon, or a public figure).  After a little brainstorming, Brendan and I came up with the idea for him to be Colonel Sanders! We both acquired the various accoutrements over that last few days and tonight we pulled it all together! We even brought our daughter Lydia into the fun by dressing her up like a baby chick for a few pictures (left)!  Our friend Erica Brokaw got the other shot of B tonight at KFC before the gig (right).  I think it's pretty brilliant

Have fun!  Get creative!  And don't get sick on all that candy! xoxo

(Lov) // Ladybug in the Pumpkin Patch

Flying through the pumpkin patch, Ladybug - you're hard to catch! We are so blessed to have a daughter like you - who brings joy and laughter to all we do. With your big black spots and your tiny gauze wings, you are the cutest little bug we ever did see.  ~  Happy Halloween everyone!
